Our Story at PersianTaste

Welcome to PersianTaste, our family-run Persian restaurant in the heart of Potters Bar.

When we opened our doors in April 2023, we began with a simple dream: to bring the rich flavours, warmth and hospitality of Iran to Hertfordshire. For us, PersianTaste has never been just about serving food. It is about sharing a part of who we are, where we come from, and the traditions that have shaped our lives.

Iran is a vast and beautiful country, with a culinary heritage as rich and varied as its landscapes. From north to south, every region has its own ingredients, flavours and family traditions. This diversity is something we have always loved, and it is at the heart of everything we do at PersianTaste.

I am originally from Yazd, a historic city in central Iran known for its deep culture, beautiful architecture and distinctive cuisine. Yazd has its own character: warm, traditional and full of history. My partner comes from the lush northern region of Iran, where many of the country’s most loved dishes originate. The north is famous for its green landscapes, farming traditions and fresh, flavourful ingredients.

Together, our backgrounds allow us to bring two different sides of Persian cooking to the table. By combining the traditions of Yazd with the fresh, vibrant flavours of northern Iran, we aim to offer our guests a truly authentic and varied Persian dining experience.

We decided to open PersianTaste because we felt there was a real need for a genuine Persian restaurant in North London and the wider Hertfordshire area. We wanted to create somewhere calm and welcoming — a place where families, friends and members of the local community could come together, relax and enjoy food made with care.

Like any family business, our journey has taken dedication, patience and hard work. Opening a restaurant is never easy, especially when your aim is to build something personal and meaningful. Every recipe, every detail and every guest experience matters to us. But that is also what makes this journey so special. PersianTaste is built on our family values: warmth, honesty, tradition and care.

Our food is homemade and heartfelt, inspired by the recipes and flavours we grew up with. We prepare our dishes with respect for tradition, using the kind of care you would expect from a Persian home kitchen. For us, food is not only something to eat — it is something to share. It brings people together, starts conversations and creates memories around the table.

More than anything, we want PersianTaste to feel like a place of connection. Whether you are visiting with family, meeting friends, celebrating a special moment or trying Persian food for the first time, we want you to feel welcome from the moment you arrive.
